A Canadian woman and her father were killed by the woman’s former husband, who was later found dead himself.
Calgary police say the bodies of Stanislaw Wardzala and Anna “Ania” Kaminski were found at two different homes on Dec. 29. Authorities believed both were targeted and that their deaths were related to a domestic dispute.
Police found the body of Kaminski’s husband near his vehicle the next day following a manhunt.
The CBC, the Calgary Herald and CityNews Calgary reported that Kaminski’s husband, Benedict Kaminski, 38, is believed to have been responsible for the murders.
The Calgary Herald, citing Ania’s brother, Peter, reported that she and Benedict had gotten in a big fight on Christmas at her parent’s home.
Peter told the paper that the fight started after the couple’s son wanted to sit next to his grandfather at the table, rather than his father.
“He kept antagonizing his kid,” Peter reportedly said. “He started to push my sister away forcefully. I almost got into a fistfight with him.”

Peter said his brother-in-law left the home before police were called. Following the spat, Ania’s brother said she threatened to file for a protective order against her husband.
A GoFundMe was started to raise money for Ania’s children, as well as her mother.
“We are heartbroken to share the tragic passing of Ania Wardzala/Kaminski, a beloved mom, daughter, sister and friend,” the organizer wrote. “Ania’s dear children are now facing an unimaginable loss. In this devastating time, we seek to provide support and help these kids navigate their grief, ensuring they have the resources and care they need as they move forward without their mom.”
