An affiliate of the Russian mercenary outfit the Wagner Group has issued another rebuke of the Russian Ministry of Defence in their ongoing war of words as they look to undermine each other’s influence in the Kremlin.
Vladlen Tatarsky, a self-styled Russian war correspondent with close ties to the Wagner Group – last week, he personally interviewed its leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin – questioned why soldiers should go into battle when those with ties to the top war generals in Moscow are jetting off abroad.
On Telegram on Wednesday morning, he wrote: “How to go into battle, when the son-in-law of the Minister of Defense demonstrates an indifferent attitude to what is happening in all his social networks.”
Defence minister Sergei Shoigu has consistently been the subject of Wagner Group attacks, including by Prigozhin.
Tatarsky, in his latest comments, was referring to Denis Dolzhenko, who is married to Shoigu’s second daughter, 32-year-old Kseniya.
Despite Dolzhenko, holding a political position as deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Russia‘s Vologda region, has been brazenly posting pictures of his lavish holidays abroad on Instagram – a site that is banned in Russia – over the new year and into 2023, angering certain soldiers fighting in Ukraine.
